Healthy babies start with healthy mothers.

The 5 P’s of a Healthy Pregnancy

  1. PREPARE your body by making healthy choices before you get pregnant.
  2. PLAN to see a doctor right away and take prenatal vitamins.
  3. PASS on smoking, drugs and alcohol.
  4. PROTECT your baby from environmental risks and medications that could be dangerous.
  5. PARTICIPATE in local resources for affordable healthcare if you don’t have insurance.

5 Signs of Early Labor:

  1. Contractions that occur more than six times each hour (before 37th week of pregnancy).
  2. Low, dull backache or sensation of pelvic pressure.
  3. Diarrhea.
  4. Spotting or bleeding.
  5. Watery discharge.

If you're concerned about what you're feeling — especially if you have bleeding accompanied by abdominal cramps or pain — contact your health care provider.

Don't worry about mistaking false labor for the real thing. Everyone will be pleased to find out it was a false alarm!

5 Tips for Keeping your Baby Safe

  1. Put your baby to sleep on her back EVERY TIME to prevent sudden infant death syndrome (SIDS).
  2. Avoid using soft objects, stuffed toys, loose bedding and blankets in the crib.
  3. Give your baby breast milk. Breast is best!
  4. Keep your baby’s shots current and keep your well baby appointments.
  5. Follow your doctor’s recommendations.
