The Problem
A cry for help.
If the health of a community is judged by its smallest citizens, Tarrant County is failing.
We have one of the highest infant mortality rates in the state of Texas. Every other day a baby dies in our community before reaching its first birthday. |
The Facts
Many deaths can be prevented.
Most infant deaths are the result of poor maternal health. In fact, one out of 5 women in Tarrant County gets late or NO prenatal care. Unhealthy mothers lead to premature and low birth weight infants, and that means babies who never get a shot at a healthy life. You can change that statistic.
Our job as a community is to educate women of child bearing age about the importance of prenatal health. Involve your company, your church and yourself in this issue. Help babies LIVE in Tarrant County! |
Why Should you Care?
We are judged by the babies we save.
The Infant Mortality Rate is an indicator of a community’s overall health status. Companies look at this statistic when looking to relocate.
We all pay the price.
Unhealthy babies cost all of us in real terms. The average first-year medical cost for premature infants is roughly 10 times greater than that of full term babies.
